Hunter + Becca // Fall Creek Falls Engagement Session
Hunter and Becca are high school sweethearts and I am so happy for them to begin their journey as husband and wife in May. And it is always such an honor to capture a part of this season between dating + marriage.
I rarely cancel or reschedule sessions due to weather. And when a couple of good friends engagement session is planned for a Saturday at Fall Creek Falls I really hated to reschedule. You see Tennessee winters and weather are kind of unpredictable. So you want to take advantage of the opportunities to shoot when you can because you just never know what the weather will really do!

The day started out with a moody vibe on my drive up to the Cumberland plateau. A cool fall morning with much fog and drizzling rain in and out of the entire drive. But with Hunter + Becca’s engagement session set for this day I knew we could face the weather and get some amazing shots with that fall moody and romantic vibe if we could wait out the rain. Sometimes it is absolutely worth it to "risk it for the biscuit" and embrace the unpredictable TN weather.

This day was well worth the risk! We arrived to the nature center at Fall Creek Falls State Park during a downpour and ran inside to wait out the rain. After about 10 minutes the rain turned into a light drizzle and the skies, though cloudy, let up. It was the perfect and optimal situation! This sky gave us moody light and was perfect for this fall engagement session.

My favorite moments of the day were when Becca wanted Hunter to get into the water towards the end of the session. His response was you’re going to make me get “glaucoma.” This caused Becca (being the nursing major) and I to bust into laughter at the idea that Hunter might get an eye cancer from frigid waters. And then the actual moment he did get into the icy cold stream, with pants legs rolled, only to have Becca chicken out on him. This had me laughing out loud the rest of the day. See the photo below ——>

From jumping across the rushing waters to nearby boulders to get the shot, standing under an old apparently brittle tree and scoping out possible spots while these two changed only to have a large limb fall right beside me, to then watching Becca get literal cold feet after convincing Hunter to roll up his pants legs and step into the stream for a cool shot (no pun intended haha) this was definitely a shoot for the books and I am so thankful for wonderful friends and clients who trust me to capture these moments and seasons for them. <3
